Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game. Please note that this ammunition is not intended for older guns. It is made for modern firearms only, as some of the ammunition could damage older and weaker firearms. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, boxer-primed, reloadable brass cases.

This bullet is designed to expand radically at intended impact velocities into living mammalian tissues. Expect a mushroom of about .85 caliber and penetration of around 18-24 inches, depending on which bones are struck. This would be the ideal load for hunting smaller big game species, where very deep penetration is not needed and the bigger wound channel from an expanded bullet is desirable, such as deer or medium-sized black bear. The 500 JRH cartridge was designed by gun builder Jack Huntington to fit the Freedom Arms model 83 and other similarly sized revolvers. As such, it has nearly the same case head (.006 smaller in diameter) as the 500 S&W. With its slightly smaller case head, it will fit the tight ratchet system of the Freedom Arms model 83 and will still work great in any 500 S&W firearm.
